PSRS/PEERS Receives Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting

GFOA 2020 Award Certificate

PSRS/PEERS was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the Systems’ fiscal year 2020 Annual Financial Report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

This is the 27th consecutive year PSRS/PEERS has received the prestigious award.

The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the GFOA program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate PSRS/PEERS’ financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

"We are very pleased to receive this recognition from GFOA again this year,” said PSRS/PEERS Executive Director Dearld Snider. “It is important to us that our annual financial report goes beyond minimum requirements and provides clear and complete financial information. We believe it is extremely important to be transparent about what we do."

The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program in 1945. The goal of the program is not to assess the financial health of participating governments, but rather to ensure that users of their financial statements have the information they need to do so themselves.
