Applying for Service Retirement

You must apply for service retirement benefits before your PEERS retirement date. You can file the Service Retirement Application and other required forms with our office, or you can apply online by logging in to Web Member Services. We recommend that you file at least three months before your retirement date. We will acknowledge receipt of your application.

    Applying for Service Retirement Online

    You can log in to Web Member Services to apply for retirement online. Applying online is a nine-step process. Each step you complete is saved, and you can exit and return to the next step at any time. The status of your in-process application will show on your Web Member Services home page.

    You will be required to enter information regarding the retirement date and benefit plan you wish to choose, your desired beneficiaries, income tax withholding and direct deposit information. Before you start your online application, you will see a list of information you should have available to best complete the process.

    Once you have submitted your online application, we will acknowledge receipt of your application and also notify you of any other documentation we may need to complete the service retirement process.

    Service Retirement Application Packet (Includes all the forms listed below)
    This electronic packet contains all the forms you need to apply for service retirement. View and print them all at once by opening this file. If you choose PLSO, you also need the PEERS PLSO Distribution Form.

    Service Retirement Application
    Your retirement application tells us when you want to retire, which benefit plan you choose for the payment of your benefits, and who your post-retirement beneficiaries are.

    PEERS Missouri Monthly Tax Withholding Authorization
    This form tells us the federal and state income tax amounts to withhold from your benefits.

    Direct Deposit Authorization for Monthly Benefit Payments
    Use this form to provide us bank account information for the direct deposit of your benefits.

    PLSO Distribution Form (File only if you choose the PLSO)
    This form tells us which PLSO payment you choose, and gives both PEERS and your financial institution direction if you want to rollover your PLSO payment to another qualified retirement account.
