Retirement Education

We want to help you learn more about your benefits and retirement system. Our counselors are here to help you get all the information you need, and offer a variety of educational opportunities to best fit your busy life.

You can attend an informational seminar or in-service meeting, or opt for one of several types of individualized counseling sessions.

PSRS/PEERS now offers evening phone and web counseling sessions. Sessions will be available at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can register for these sessions by logging in to Web Member Services or by contacting our office.

  • Retirement Seminars

    RetireSmart_RetirementReady_smIf you are within five years of retirement and would like pre-retirement counseling, we recommend that you first attend a Retirement Ready Seminar. These seminars provide a thorough overview of the issues important at this stage of your retirement planning.

    Retirement Ready Seminars are held throughout the year, at various locations around the state. Virtual Retirement Ready Seminars are also offered for your convenience.

    In-person seminar attendees receive personalized retirement information including Benefit Estimates based on information provided at registration. For this reason, registration is required.

    Online education is a great way to learn about the benefits you are entitled to as a member of PEERS! Get the information you need from the comfort of your own home, no travel required!

  • One-on-One Counseling

    Phone Counseling

    Phone counseling sessions are available to all members who want a designated time to speak to a counselor by phone. This option allows you to ask questions without having to travel or connect to a web program.

    Web Counseling

    Web counseling sessions are available to all members who would like to meet one-on-one with a retirement counselor via the Internet. You can attend a web counseling session at any computer with a high-speed internet connection, and a web cam if you want your counselor to see you during the counseling session. You can speak with a counselor and share documents during the session.

    Retirement Counseling at PEERS

    If you would like, you can receive retirement counseling at our Jefferson City office. Walk-ins are welcome, but we suggest making an appointment so we can prepare a personalized information packet for you.

    You can register for a one-on-one counseling session by calling (800) 392-6848 or log in to Web Member Services and select the Counseling and Seminars tab from the navigation menu.

    OnSite/Professional Development Presentations

    By request, we present retirement information programs for staff, either at your school or another desired location. Presentations can be tailored to meet the needs of early, mid-career or pre-retirement-stage members. School officials and organizational leaders who want to request informational programs about PEERS membership or retirement should contact us.

    Quick Counseling Sessions

    Quick Counseling sessions are individual, 15-minute counseling sessions held at a school district's location of choice. Quick Counseling sessions are a great way for you to meet and talk to a counselor about a wide variety of PEERS-related issues, such as updating your beneficiary designations, asking questions about filing for retirement, requesting benefit estimates or service purchase applications and much more.
