The 2025 Missouri Legislative Session began January 8, and as always, PSRS/PEERS will actively monitor any bills that could potentially affect the Systems or our members.

As seen during last year’s session, 2025 legislation includes bills focused on investment policy related to required divestment from investments in China, prohibiting investments based on environmental, social or governance (ESG) factors, and ensuring that investments and proxy votes of public pension systems are undertaken for the economic interests of members.

Several bills have also been filed which would further impact working after retirement limits for PSRS/PEERS retirees and extend the current waiver on work limits for work performed as a substitute teacher.

In addition, legislation has been introduced that would add a higher benefit factor for calculating PSRS service retirement benefits for members with 33 or more years of service at retirement.

This year’s session runs through May 16, 2025, with a spring break occurring from March 17 through 21.

Keep in mind that the status of all bills is subject to change daily. Any impactful developments will be promptly shared on our website, in your member newsletter and by email.
