The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded PSRS/PEERS the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the Systems’ fiscal year 2023  Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.

This is the 30th consecutive year PSRS/PEERS has received the prestigious award. It represents a significant accomplishment by the Retirement Systems and their management.

The PSRS/PEERS 2023 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and groups to read the report.

“The preparation of our annual report is a major task that is accomplished through a lot of teamwork and collaboration,” said PSRS/PEERS Executive Director Dearld Snider. “So many of our management and staff are dedicated to making sure this document is as accurate, transparent and complete as possible. They are the ones who have made this recognition possible for the last 30 years, and I believe it demonstrates our commitment to excellence in everything we do.”

The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare annual comprehensive financial reports that evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
