Benefit Recipients

Even after retirement, it is important to stay informed about your retirement system and keep us informed when your contact information changes.

We encourage you to use Web Member Services to view and update your membership information, and to send us completed forms or proof documents using our secure document upload. Log in using the link at the top right corner of this page.

As a benefit recipient, you can use Web Member Services to update your:

  • Current mailing address, phone number and email address on record
  • Direct deposit information and income tax withholding amounts

You can also view and print your current and archived Benefit Statements and IRS Forms 1099-R, view a benefit summary, cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) information, and your beneficiary designations, as well as your progress toward working after retirement limits (if applicable), as reported by your employer(s).

COLAs

Eligible service and disability retirees may receive cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) on monthly benefits beginning the second January following their retirement date.

Payment of Benefits

Your monthly benefit payments are made by direct deposit on the last working day of each month starting in the month your retirement becomes effective, and are available for use on that date.

Tax Information

PSRS benefits are subject to federal income taxes, and Missouri income taxes if you live in Missouri.

Social Security and Medicare

Most PSRS members do not contribute to Social Security on their PSRS-covered earnings.

Powers of Attorney and Conservatorships

PSRS cannot provide you with legal advice or prepare personal legal documents for you. Consult with your personal attorney regarding any legal document to ensure that the document specifies your wishes and complies with applicable law.

Missouri Public Pension Exemption

Depending on a variety of factors, you may be able to deduct up to 100% of your public retirement benefits received from PSRS on your Missouri income tax return.

Survivor Benefit Recipients:

If your child receives PSRS survivor benefits while still in school, you must submit completed certification forms to PSRS three times each year. These forms will be mailed to you or can be printed from this website. Please contact us with any questions.
