PSRS/PEERS Receives Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting

2021 Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canda (GFOA) Award certificate

PSRS/PEERS was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the Systems’ fiscal year 2021 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by the Retirement Systems and their management.

This is the 28th consecutive year PSRS/PEERS has received the prestigious award.

The Systems’ annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the GFOA program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate PSRS/PEERS’ financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

"This award is a significant recognition for everyone here at PSRS/PEERS,” said PSRS/PEERS Executive Director Dearld Snider. “As an organization, we are committed to being as transparent as possible about the work we do and the benefits we provide. We work hard to ensure that our annual financial report goes beyond minimum requirements and provides clear and complete information.”

The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program in 1945. The goal of the program is not to assess the financial health of participating governments, but rather to ensure that users of their financial statements have the information they need to do so themselves.
