We provide four types of one-on-one counseling sessions.
Personal Counseling at our Office
Individual counseling sessions are scheduled each business day for members who are visiting the PEERS office in Jefferson City for a very specific reason (filing forms or applications, making payments for reinstatements or purchases of service), or for those who have a
unique situation that would be better addressed with an individual counselor.
Walk-ins are welcome, but we suggest calling the office to make an appointment so that we can prepare a personalized packet of information for you. Call our office at (800) 392-6848 or log in
Web Member Services and select the Counseling and Seminars tab from the navigation menu to schedule an individual counseling session.
Please bring the following items to your counseling session:
- A photo ID to confirm your identity
- A photocopy of your birth certificate to verify your date
- A photocopy of your beneficiary's birth certificate (if you are filing for retirement and selected a Joint-and-Survivor benefit plan)
- A photocopy of marriage license/certificate if married
- A voided check (if you are filing for retirement)
Addresses, dates of birth and Social Security numbers of beneficiaries may be needed.
Phone counseling sessions are available to all members who want a designated time to speak to a counselor by phone. This option allows you to ask questions without having to travel or connect to a web program. You can make an appointment by calling (800) 392-6848 .
Web counseling sessions are available to all members who would like to meet one-on-one with a retirement counselor without the drive to Jefferson City. You can attend a web counseling session at any computer with a high-speed internet connection, and a web cam if you want your counselor to see you during the counseling session. You can speak with a counselor and share documents during the session.
You can register by calling (800) 392-6848 or log in to Web Member Services and select the Counseling and Seminars tab
from the navigation menu.
Quick Counseling Sessions
At an employer's request, our counselors will visit and provide a Quick Counseling program, allowing members to sign up for short, individual meetings with a counselor. Quick Counseling sessions are a great way for you to meet and talk to a counselor about a wide variety of PEERS-related issues, such as updating your beneficiary designations, asking questions about filing for retirement, requesting benefit estimates or service purchase applications and much more.
School officials and organizational leaders who want to request Quick Counseling sessions should contact us.
