Reinstatement
Must have service for previous PEERS-covered employment that you forfeited by taking a refund.

PSRS-Covered Employment
Must have service for employment covered by PSRS and have forfeited the service by taking a refund. A portion of the calculated cost will be offset by employer matching funds.

Supplemental Service
Must be within five years of retirement eligibility to qualify. Supplemental service cannot be used to vest your membership.

Social Security-Covered Employment
Must be vested with PEERS. A Detailed Earnings Statement is required from the Social Security Administration. Employment must have been at least 20 hours a week on a regular basis while age 18 or older.

Public School Employment
Must have been employed at least 20 hours per week in a non-PSRS/PEERS covered public school district, public junior college, public community college or public college inside or outside of Missouri.

Private School Employment
Must have served at least 20 hours per week in a private school, private two-year college, private community college or private college inside or outside of Missouri.

Unpaid Maternity/Paternity Leave
Must have taken unpaid leave from PEERS-covered employment for maternity/paternity purposes. If the unpaid leave occurred within the current school year or previous two school years, it may be more cost efficient to purchase the unpaid leave under the “Unpaid Sick Leave” purchase provision.

Active Duty Military Service
Must have active duty service in the U.S. armed forces and have been discharged or separated from the Armed forces by other than dishonorable discharge.

USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994)
Must be re-employed after December 11, 1994, in accordance with USERRA regulations by the same employer you left, and apply within five years to purchase the service.

Vo-Tech Work Experience
Must have been or currently be certified as a vocational-technical teacher and have at least two years in the area of the subject being taught in order to qualify for the certification.

Part-Time Certificated Employment
Must have been employed at least 17 but less than 20 hours per week on a regular basis during the period of August 28, 1991 through August 27, 2003. You must have held a valid Missouri educator certificate during this time.

Service with Another Missouri Public Pension Plan
Must have earned service with another public retirement system established by the state of Missouri.

Non-Federal Public Employment
Must have been employed for at least 20 hours per week on a regular basis for a non-federal public employer inside or outside the state of Missouri.

Not-for-Profit Educational Employment
Must have worked, while on leave from a PEERS-covered employer, for a not-for-profit corporation or agency whose primary purpose is support of education.
