Wayne Wheeler, Trustee

Wayne Wheeler of Kimberling City was appointed by Governor Matt Blunt on September 21, 2007, to fill the ‘retired member’ seat on the PSRS/PEERS Board of Trustees.

Wheeler previously served two four-year terms as a PSRS/PEERS elected trustee, serving from 1996-2004, and was Board chair from 2002-2004.

Wheeler retired in 2004 after serving 35 years as an elementary teacher, principal, curriculum director, and assistant superintendent in four different Missouri school districts. He and his wife, Joy, (who also retired in 2004), reside in Kimberling City. They have two sons: Andrew and Grant.

Wheeler is a past member of MSTA, MAESP, Phi Delta Kappa, ASCD, and the Show-Me Curriculum Directors Association. He and his wife are both presently members of the Missouri Retired Teachers’ Association (MRTA), serve as volunteers in their community and church, and manage to catch a fish now and then in one of the area lakes and streams.
